Satanic intentions...

I am so evil, I am so sorry, did my back hurt your knife?

But, as long as you are busy stabbing me,
remember, you are just another fish in the sea.
Only Best of the best, I have chosen to be,
My buddy , a chum who'll keep me happy.

"Why are you encouraging him, What does he mean to you?"
"He means shit! It's just the 'Right' thing to do."
"You mean you don't care what comes out of this?"
"Of course I do, I wouldn't give spying a miss!?!"

You were my friend, you were doing a favour?
favour my foot, you wouldn't care if I was dying of fever..
Bitching and backtalk, were your plans for the day,
Blind trust there was and you made all the hay.

Once a promise always a promise, I'll keep my word,
but my trust for you, flew away like a giant free bird.
You put a chameleon to shame, U-turns are rife?
I'm still sorry if my back hurt your knife!
You think you are immaculate near God's abode?
think again , I am behind the next dark cloud.
I won't remember, I won't seek vengeance
but better start packing to hell's darkest dungeons.

I'll wind up my song, I won't cause you more fear,
It's the thought that matters, oh dear...
I am so evil, I am so bad!!
when the U-turns are rife..
I'm still sorry, if my back hurt your knife!

How to connect to BSNL broadband from fedora 9 ??

Thats one question that was stuck in my head from as long as I can remember. You see I was running many versions of linux on my notebook. But continuously had problems making full use of it. You see, installing Linux on a notebook especially a HP/Compaq itself a pain in the tail. Next was the bigger problem, I connect to the net using a BSNL Broadband connection, one that uses a UT-300R2U modem. It is the kind in which you are not automatically connected to the internet at startup. I gotta double click on the BSNL Icon on the desktop and then connect.

NOTE: If you are in a terrible hurry to find out the answer then scroll down to the words in pale-yellow and follow the instructions.

Are you wondering what a "Solve a linux problem" is doing on Insanity unlimited?Dont wonder...just read. Its not the problem thats the topic, its the solution or the abundance and yet lack of it.

After finally loading my notebook with a Fedora 9, I set out on the first task of mounting partitions. I somehow managed some quick fix solutions using root users. My second task was to connect to the internet. Now, how many people in the world, work on a Fedora 9 and have a BSNL BroadBand connection that doesnt connect on startup but only one manual dial (Double click and connect) through a UT-300R2U modem????
I am guessing not too many. Now I setout on the job of the painful Google R&D to find out the answer to one of the big questions in life ( 3rd biggest but only for the week) - How to connect to BSNL broadband from fedora 9 ??
it turns out there are many people who seek answers to the same question and quite a few geeks who have answered them on the net. "Answered" is not the end of the story my friend.
One guy lists out a set of numbers DNZ, IP, TCP, Subnet mask, BBT, POT , SOB and what not. We have to try all that at some imaginary place in Fedora 9 that this guy probably keeps dreaming about.
Another guy came in with a set of instructions that had everything to do from installing a set of softwares to whacking the hell out of some port thats on my system! - Right!

There were about 6 other guys whose solutions were more dramatic than the other. I tried all the methods one by one, pushing my hands into the deepest slimiest trenches of the Linux system, even stood upside. I felt like I was ready for the toughest Yoga sessions after being done with these. But no...the internet was still miles away.

While banging my head on my keyboards ( A practice developed while trying in vain to solve other problems) as my head moved closer to the keyboard the visibility of my system tray improved and I noticed a small icon which looked like a mouse( Intended to look like a network adapter - as I realised later). Curious I clicked on it. It had popped up a ballon that read "Network now disconnected".
One of the GREAT solutions provided by the geniuses online had done enough to disconnect my modem and connect it again, but definitely not connect it to the internet. But thanks to the modem restart the balloon had popped up.

Voila! I discovered the four step procedure to connect to the net. It is so simple so stupid. What all the techno crap couldnt do, four mouse clicks managed it in unders 20 seconds. Here it is:

>Right-click on the icon in the system tray that looks like a mouse or network plug/adapter
>Click on Edit Connections
>Select tab DSL
>Click on 'ADD'
>Enter your login information ( Connection name - "BSNL", username and password are as provided by BSNL, can leave service field blank)
>Click ok.
>Now come back to your desktop. Left click on the same icon and select 'BSNL', by default its connected to 'system eth0'.
>It will prompt you for the password again. Enter it and click connect.

You should be ready to go.

Now the bigger question in life! What the *&^%$# hell were the other guys talking about??????????? I can't believe 4-5 click solution could solve this mess.

NOTE: If this doesn't work for you either, then good look discovering your own solution, which you can post on the net and please go easy on me in your article. Thanks in advance.

>For those who NOW think I am turning into a geek - Better Stop thinking.

Ahhh!! That smell of fresh air...

It is common for most HRs to ask the candidates to draw a graph of their achievements in exams. Pray not I will be asked for such a graph. You may have gone on the most dangerous roller coasters in the world, but just watching my graph will make your head spin and you will be puking like a borewell pump in no time.

The ups and down on this one resemble the Himalayas, but the Himalayas stop at ground zero.

The results from my last sem, 5th sem was not helping things either. It was obvious that I had hit rock bottom and I had started to dig! Sometimes, you just don't see how things can turn around. You throw your hands in the air and exclaim- Thats it, even the almighty can't pull this one OFF.

After finishing off 6th sem exams, I kept shouting out the fact that I would end up with atleast 4 backs on my back. It was by far my worst performance. The 5th sem exams, were actually the opposite. It was my best performance after entering branch and it turned out to be the worst result I ever got.

On 3rd, Sep, word had it that our results would be out the next day. On discussion with a friend online, I was wondering if I should atleast try and make some money off my results. I was thinking of a bet, a bet that I would end up with 4 backs. I was THAT SURE! Just when I was about to do that, he said "Wait!...check if results are out"
I just madly started to pray for a miracle. I was hoping to have something more like 2 backs instead of 4. 2 was better than 4 right?

god god god....

Voila! No backs!

One and a half years! One and a half years I had not felt how it was to be a person without a backlog. I just could not believe it.

I pressed ctrl+f and entered "Fail". - No result

I pressed ctrl+f and entered "F". - Two results (first one was in "of" the other was in "Software"

I pressed ctrl+f and entered my name - It was my result!

I decided to give in to that deep deep realisation of true satisfaction. What a day! Historic!

The aggre? Well its gone below 60 now. But, hey, I already got that job din I? Is that great timing or what?

The rest of the day was spent understanding that it was a really weird result by VTU. Did they read my blog or something? Big guns were gunned down, while I had no backs? And then the site stopped opening after the most obvious server crash. Thats what happens when you release Tom Dick and Harry's result on the same day. I think another record was set when every single person pinged me to check out a big list of USNs each! You could cut the tension with knife, or a blade, or poke it with a screw driver or..you get the idea. I just wish good luck for the victims of the weird results.

Well there you have it -
It took a weird result from VTU to gimme an all clear result. I am not surprised in that case!

I had forgotten what fresh air smelt like! It now seems to be filling me lungs full on.

And then came TM

First there was Infy. The story is old!
Then TCS they didn't shortlist me.
Thoughtworks, whoa, I was shortlisted this time, but it would be unfair if a guy like me had got into it. I would have deprieved someone really brainy of his rightful place.
After these three companies, there was a long lull. I would show up on time, in the college all the time, only to be told that I won't be allowed to take their tests. Not once did I feel dejected. It was usually like 'Awright, whose next?'.
After all - The world cant keep a guy like me jobless for too long.

And then came TM.

I had learned the previous night that it was confirmed to be a mass. i.e, I wouldn't get a chance to write for another co if I got into this one. So I had my doubts anyway. Not that I was sure about getting into it, but I calculate mathematically, while expecting the worst. I took suggestions from friends.
Finally I decided to stop being ambitious. I had barely a few hours before the reporting time when links started pouring in for papers and stuff. Honestly, I could not get myself to look at them. I just passed them onto others who were more serious about the company. I felt like kicking myself, cause I thought I would be blaming this attitude for still being unemployed the next day.

The morning, I arrived late by over half an hour. But the HRs set the benchmark for punctuality in their organisation by being One and a half hours late, so I had to sit and wait for one hour anyway.

The HR Manager, actually left me cracking with his mindless bungles during the PPT. He said "All of you at the back having been standing for 2 years". When the hall burst into a roar of laughter, he realised (or was probably prompted by someone sitting in the front) and said "HOURS! HOURS! Not years...two hours". The PPT was no less funny. People attending the classes kept messaging
"How was the test? How was the test? "
I kept replying
"PPT is funny! PPT is funny!"
One guy looked like he had four sets of teeth, which could barely fit into his mouth. It was hard to make out whether he was smiling or angry. The rest looked like Juniors from another college. Maybe they were.

The Online Aptitude test was a nothing. Thanks to our college (Which will be a globally acknowledged institution...blah blah) , our systems powered off due to a power failure. Hello? Ever heard of a UPS Mr.Globally Acknowledged?
Good News: I got 10 minutes extra when the power returned
Bad news: The power kept failing and the system kept shutting down. I? I kept banging my head on the table.
OK-OK news: I didnt need the extra time as I finished 25 mins ahead.

Earlier than I thought, I was told I would be called in next, when Kavs showed up to explain the same project to me. She had run out of CGI Laboratory on the pretex of drinking water to help me out.

I was called in soon. The Tech Interview went on well, with only basic programs being asked.

I came out in about 40 minutes.

I am now telling everyone that I am sure to be called for HR.

Barely 5 mins later I was called in for HR which was pretty bad. We found out that I actually was not eligible to take up their test in the first place. Before letting me out, he made it clear that I couldn't be employed by them.

What we need we not always want. Getting this job was still important because
1) I don't have to dodge bullets from Dad
2) Results were going to be announced. My aggre would then be below 60 + 4 backs
3) Over Ambition is a main source of undoing.
4)Ego aside, get your butt employed first , said a voice from inside. And also some messages on chat, let alone the people shouting at me all the way to college.

I was recalling how everyone kept thinking that I was sad and dejected for not being placed. I wrote about my condition on my blog only because it was my condition and it is my blog. I was not sad or dejected. The reactions were more like "Aww its ok" instead of "Haha! Point! ".
I had to get this for them too?

2005 HRs (5 past 8 pm in simpler words)
The result was announced, and by now you must have realised my name was in the list.

All the best to Pradeep and Shambu. Two of my close friends, who deserved a job that day more than anyone else. I know a hot seat is waiting for you somewhere, I can't wait till you are on it.

God Bless!

WTF Institute of technology and the curse of Batch '09

Let me make it clear - this is not a post of disgust, frustration, dejection or anger related in any way to my latest run of poor luck. It's just about what went wrong where and definitely a discussion in more general terms, concerning my whole batch of 2009.

Yes, we are batch 2009, not batch 2005 - YOU FOOLS! A lady in the office also jumped yesterday morning when I said I belonged to the 2009 Batch. She nearly fainted. Before she could ask me what the future looked like and how I traveled back in time, I quickly added "That will obviously mean, I am expected to pass out in that year -2009. Ummm I joined in 05, maybe thats the year you want? " with a sheepish smile. The reason I was being so extremely careful with my temper and sharp tongue was that the lady had gone out her way to give me my 4th Semester Marks Card so that I could apply for my education loan on time and in the process, make sure I could pay off for my final year. Nice lady she was.

For some of you, who might be wondering what happened to my loan, well I did manage to do something about it, FINALLY. For the moment, its working, until and unless, the bank does notice something strange about it. Pray it wont.

Now whats this curse I was talking about? Ah yes! The batch is definitely cursed. Everyone would have expected it to be the other way around when the management seats came under CET jurisdiction. We got in dirt cheap compared to what it would have been otherwise. Anyway, as the old saying goes - Getting to the top is one thing, staying there is another. I realised the full meaning of that line in the past three years.

To begin with- The Uniform code: Now why the hell do we need it? Gimme one good reason. The way they spoke about the students dressing sense, one would half expect the girls to be showing up as item girls and the boys to be wearing bras over their heads. Trust me, to be going to degree college looking like Factory workers, is definitely more sick than showing up like nature intended us to initially.

The class was split into two sections: Well lets face it, all of us are not exactly brothers and sisters in love. I don't want to write all lies here w.r.t cunning diplomacy, just because my classmates read my blog. But, to be honest, it hurts. At the end of the day, its not the same.
A bunch of people had nothing to do, except meet and have a cup of tea every evening, so just decided to split the class into two! You know, drawing a line exactly down the middle is serious business. It takes experience, brains and lots of talent. Now they didn't have to worry about their mind being turned into the devils workshop. We have to be content with meeting the other half at the canteen table or the parking lot, until ofcourse, the watchman chases us away.

The PC elections: I never wrote about this did I? Most people like to say I am still burning at what happened, so I have decided to add a few lines in that regard. Actually I am not. I did what I did, out of respect to request from some friends. It was the right thing to do, or else it would have been sheer arrogance. What might hurt is the fact that some other friends thought (and probably still think) that I did it for personal reasons. While some others say, I was never good enough. Rubbing salt into the wounds is the fact that I can never prove that wrong. But, when I do look back, this is not a big issue to me at all. I admit, for 2 days after that, it was a big issue. I experienced first hand why its all called DIRTY POLITICS. Nobody is spared.
The Curse part is not all related to me. Its related to the beginning of the new set of rules administered over these processes. This will be made clear when you read on. The new set of rules, were because of the ISO9001 certificate.
If all the efforts that were spent in pursuing this certificate were on the other hand spent on something directly related to the benefit of the students. We would have made greater inroads to success. When that would happen, the certificate would have no other place to go, but us.
Now we have the certificate. SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME HOW IT #()^!#&% HELPED US??????????

PO:
This is a tale of two people from the same criminal branch. One was a mad man, but he did his job. The other was very sane, but he only assumed his job. No points for guessing which man arrived to the hot seat for Batch 2009. He runs away to a secluded corner to get drowned in a pool of smoke, out of tension, even if he hears so much as a mouse breaking the wind at the other end of the campus. Pappu Can't officiate Saala. I have witnessed his bravado with the HRs first hand.

The Policy:
JC has a 3 job policy I hear. I wonder if its called a No Job policy around here?
No, honestly, the policy is fine.Or maybe not.
I will present you with a scenario, you decide- when companies visit campuses, they expect the students to be keen and expect a lot of aspirants. You have given them full funda status - dream/open dream/nightmare...whatever!! They are also very excited. On the D day, a handful of students show up at the seminar hall. They are the only ones allowed to write. Oh boy!
Don't get me wrong...I am not speaking for myself, I can not even dream about dreaming of getting into a dream.Allow me to be the first to admit that(Before somebody jumps at the chance at being a Smart Alec). I am only elaborating on the curse.

The Dollar recession:
Batch affected - 2009. I don't think I have to say anything else?

The great Indian bias:
Don't even get me started on biased situtations. To cut a long story short, the officers are always so Mechanical, if you know what I mean. And so, it happens that the Mass companies are never invited first. Its the Mech Core companies who show up first. Good luck, explaining that logic( Though you never explain your actions).
There was a company, a cigarette company to be more specific (Ill try to keep things as anonymous as possible) visiting. They didn't want people who led mechanical lives. The officer in charge led a mechanical life. Rama Rama! He ensured that our PC did not make any progress with negotiations. This may take a personal turn, so I will end this story there. To keep this article as general as possible.

You might have something to add. Be my guest. But whatever anybody has to say, one cant agree more on the fact that, our batch is cursed.

What is more amazing is that, no matter what the policy, who the official, whatever the problems, students still came back from behind and got themselves the jobs they deserved.

Some birds are not meant to be caged, their feathers are too bright!

HR at TM

The guy is busy on his notebook. He gestured me to sit down. I was wondering what kind of interesting questions he might put out of the hat. I was just working on which accent/voice/dialect to use on him, and what all ways I could totally throw a bedsheet (Make that carpet) over his head, blinding him enough to think I am worth recruiting.
It was a silent two minutes, silence broken only by his constant tap-tap on his keyboard. One of the PCs even brought in a cup of coffee and to my luck kept it RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I hadn't a shot of caffeine in about 10 hours. The smell of strong coffee seemed to be wafting ONLY into my nostrils...
Lo, and behold, I was a tiny man, standing on the rim of a giant coffee cup. Ah, a big ocean of coffee in front of me...all for me. Just lying there. I take a big spring like coil towards the ground and jump high up in the air , moving forwards, about to dive into that depth-less pool of warm, sweet coffee, I am inches away from touching the surface...

HR: AHEM! So give me your documents Mr...

(Whoa? I was back)

Me: Oh yeah...here you are.
I was surprised at the way the interview began. Do they ask any conventional questions around here???

Another minute in silence, as I try not to think of Coffee or even look at it.

HR: Take a look at this document please!

Hands me a letter - "I will work anywhere in any shithole, under any designation as anything...blah blah blah"

I took a look at it and kept it on table.

HR: Whats your aggre?

Me: 60.3% Sir!

HR: Did you sign that?

Me: Oh you wanted me to? Sure!

I signed and handed it over to him. He threw it to his left on the table and..

HR: What did you say your aggre was?

Me: 60.3..SIR!

HR(Gesturing frantically): Come here!!!

I carefully cross the cables of the power adapter to which his laptop was hooked onto. He pointed at his screen, I bent and took a look at the number which said "59.96".

Me(Trying to look as if I didnt realise it): What is that sir?

That was my aggre! Yes. There are two waysof calculating aggre
1) Average of percentage obtained in each sem

2)Total marks obtained throughout BE/ Total maximum marks granted in BE
The second method is also known as "What the hell" Method.

The HR did not buy my look. He kept pointing at the number. I realised that - 'This is as far as you go"
I wanted to just go out of the room, accepting my fate. After all, I was not sure of what I wanted anyway. But the way he had gestured at me to come closer was irritating me. I didn't want to be labelled a cheat in his mind, whether he gave me a job or not.

I just my hand into my shirt and took out my placement ID card

Me: Sir, this is a pink card, its given only to those who are above 60% aggre. Around here and usually in all companies, aggre is calculated in a different way ( I explained method 1).

He thought for a while. Then he changed the formulas on his spreadsheet document (With a lot of help from me) to show the new aggregates. When he pressed enter, the site on the bottom most cell was a movie-to-my eyes!
The number 60.3% sat pretty snug in its little cell on that Excel Document.

HR: Go back to your seat.

I didn't want to go back to my seat anymore. I just wanted to go.

HR: This is not the right method to calculate the aggre.

Me: Ok sir.

HR: Fine, tell me what you wanna do in life.

My mouth ran like its life depended on it. But, thats usually the case, isnt't it?
You don't ask people like me to speak and expect to be lost in translation. Its not a talent, its a curse! Half the food I eat is digested to provide energy for my voice box.

After a good show.

HR: Good! You see we calculate aggre in this way, and we need 60% at the time of joining. I cant take you in sorry.

Me: ok. But, My aggre will be way past 60% in the end.

HR: Is it? How come?

Me: Its no secret you score loads in 8th semester. And I love 7th sem subjects.

HR: How will you manage then?

Next 5 minutes I spent trying to make him think I can really nail 7th and 8th semesters. When suddenly he realises he completely missed 6th sem.

HR: WAIT! What about 6th sem?

Me: Oh 6th sem is bad. Its bad. My aggre will go down.

I somehow didnt feel like I should lie.

HR:How have you fared?

Me: Not so good score. My aggre will go down after the 6th sem results.

HR: What about backs?

Now I didnt feel like I should be speaking so much of truth. I knew (Then) that I was sure to fail in 4 subjects, yet...

Me: No backs! No sire! Absolutely none!

HR: You have any backs now?

Me: Yeah. Its a subject called AMP

HR: Oh?????????????????

Me: Yep.

HR: Well, I can't let you in with a record like that. You have great marks in 10th. But look at your curve now. We cannot allow this.

Me:Hmmm

I didn't want to press any further.

HR:How many interviews have you attended before this?

Me:This is my first interview :)

HR: What happened to the others?

Me: I was not shortlisted for TCS, I was shortlisted for Thoughtworks, but I didn't get past the second round.

HR: What about the other companies?

Me: I was not eligible

HR: How you were not eligible?

Me: I have a running backlog.

HR: You ALSO HAVE A RUNNING BACKLOG?????

Me: Yeah!

HR: What happened at the second round at Thoughtworks?

Me: They wanted C++ Coders, I coded in C. My program's partial output was not helping either.

HR: How many C++ Coders are there in VTU?

Me: I can code in C++ sir.

HR: Then why didn't you?

Me: Cause I didn't know they were particular about C++. I just decided to do it in C.

HR: Well, you wanted to get in Thoughtworks?

Me: Its a good company.

HR: Yeah I know. It is a good company.

<- silence->

HR: Well, I don't have anything else to ask or say. Do you have any questions?

Me: No sir.

HR: Thank you. That will be all.

Tech interview at TM

The technical interview, for those concerned went on like this:

THR: Please sit down
(I sat down)
and...

and...

and...

The fellow, went out and disappeared for 15 mins.

When he finally returned, he asked no common questions, he went straight to pointing out I am a loser..

THR: So Ice, Why are your marks so bad?

Me( A bit taken aback): Ummm, I didn't study?

THR: But yours marks are great in 10th. Quite good in PU and uptil 2nd sem. What happened after that?

Me(Now smiling): I didn't study....sir.

THR: Why?

Me: I don't have the best memory around here...and I was...

THR(Interrupts): No no, you don't need any memory to write exam, its all conceptual.

Me: No sir, I have really poor memory, as long as its got theory, I can't reproduce what I studied. I had difficulties in some particular subjects too, which obviously did great damage to my aggregates and...

THR(Interrupts..again): Which subject?

Me: Like, AMP...

THR: Whats AMP?

Me: Advanced Micro Processors

THR(Eyes wide open): That was tough for you?

Me: Yes sir, I couldn't remember anything for too long and...

THR(Eyes wider): AMP?

Me: Yeah?

THR(Eyes now so wide open that he reminded me of Ursula Andress): Whats there to study in AMP???????????? (Probably swearing in his mind, as it was now clear that this was his subject)
There is nothing to understand in AMP, that was tough for you????????

(I decided to name his Interrupt as the THR Interrupt, since we were talking about AMP anyway!)

Me: YES! Thats why I found it tough. There is nothing to understand. Everything to mug up....SIR! (With a sarcastic smile I think)

Well, we pretty much just argued for the next 5 minutes and the end, I decided to give up and we both agreed that I was a pathetic student. Hope you got the gist of the beginning.

As I was about to wonder whether he would ask me a single technical question...

***********************************************************
(The following conversation is only for those who want to know in detail as to what went on during technical interview, you may skip this till the next set of red asterices cause there is nothing important in between)

THR: Can I ask you some questions on C?

Me: Sure sir, go ahead! (Finally)

THR: Write a program, to check for a palindrome.

I kept waiting for him to complete his question, when I realised, that , that was the question!Right-O!

I wrote a program using Stack.

THR: Write it without using any data structure.

Me: No data structure? Not even arrays?

THR: Oh! hehe, You can use arrays.

(He was probably playing- Not sure...point to be noted)

I wrote a different program with arrays.

THR: Now write one with improved efficiency.

I just modified it to scan only till the middle element.

THR:OK...

(after 2 minutes of starting)

THR: Write a program to convert this string (And he wrote some string aabbakkdl sort of gibberrish ) into this ( And he wrote another, removing a wherever it had come twice consequitively)

Me: The program will be quite long

THR: Yeah, just explain your concept with some notations, Ill check.

I gave him an explaination that I thought was right.

THR(After scrutinizing my explaination): hmmm...ok. Write a program to remove all vowels from a string.

I had been asked this program before, and I had managed it quite easily after 2 tries, so this time I got it in the first shot.

THR:Write a program to find the second highest element in a set of elements.

Me: I sort the elements and...

THR(with the THR Interrupt): No sorting business. One scan.

For this I used two variables one for the highest element scanned so far (max1) and another for the next highest (max2). Piece of cake. This is an insane blog, not a geek blog, so I wont go in detail about a program that a high school student could crack.

He just argued about my program for a loooooooooooooooooooooong time about time complexity. Finally he accepted that I was right.

THR: Write a program to check for LCM.

Me(Straight away): I don't know.

(I had forgotten everything about LCM, I didnt want to look like a fool)

THR(Almost insulting): You don't know this simple program?

Me(Sheepish smile): Hehe, I forgot the formula...and...stuff...

THR(Now laughing): Formula? What Formula??? You answered all these and you don't know LCM?

I decided to smile silently.

***********************************************************

THR: Your Technical is solid, but aggre...

(Sorry, I couldn't leave that out. This is a compliment I won't forget for a long time! )

THR: The H.R will throw you out for sure.

Me: If my technical is good, whats the problem...Sir? You can mention to him that I am good.
(Desperate times call for unexpected dialogues)

THR: How are you technically good?

This question kind of startled me, he was asking me to prove a statement he had made!

Me: Well, I am good at coding. I am sure you will agree, sir.

Statement1: I am good at coding.

statement2: My strength is coding

Statement1 will cause many people to feel their butts were blown up with Napalm. Only

Statement 2 is true. Yes I lied to the HR. I am not a good coder, my strength is coding.

THR: Ok! But after the training, we may put you anywhere, Networks , developer etc,...

(Now MY eyes were reminding him of people)

THR...You must not say "I want programming" and all

Me(Almost Jumping): Sure Sir. No problem. Definitely Sir. Ofcourse Sir...

He was getting up when

Me: I can give that LCM program a shot?

THR: No thanks, that will be all. You can leave.

Me: Thank you sir.

As I walk out, a million ghazillion people wanna know what went on inside, and this detailed conversation was obviously for them.

Hey! What about your placements?

It's finally time. I had been watching my seniors sweat it out. Work their butts out day in and day out to land themselves a tag called 'Employed'. Sometimes it you used to hurt to see some guys never make it through after all the efforts. I took enough care not to bring up the issue of placements when they were around. Of course, back then, I was sure I would pull this off clean (God knows why ). Then out of the blue...something happened.

What happened?

5th sem results happened!
All hell broke loose and life went topsy turvy. The only results I had been totally positive about. Well, I don't speak much about the past unless its something really pleasant or Insane, so why start now?

FastForward to beginning of 7th sem. The most asked question in the past two months, at an average of about 5 times a day is..

"Hey! What about your placements? " (Not to mention the smileys )

Well, most of the times its quite understandable that people out of touch tend to ask this wondering what they missed out on. But about 70% of these people are the ones I meet almost everyday. At the beginning I used to be all Happy Gilmore about it saying " The companies were unlucky ", but now, even though I am not exactly pissed or dejected, I use the most sensible reply-

"Well!! If I was placed, I would have told you about it right? And if I haven't doesn't that mean I am not placed? "

Having said that, I still don't mind the question. It only doesn't make any sense to me to ask a question you already know the answer to.

Anyway, A guy like me can't be kept jobless for too long, Insha Allah, you will hear from me very soon. [And if you don't - oh well, as I have always said, guess no company was lucky enough ;) ]

At every window, every door, in every heart!

Not because anybody else is writing about this, not because its on everybody's minds and definitely not because of the date....

Only because I feel this in my heart!

60 years ago, so many men and women gave their lives, for what they thought will be a great nation. I don't know if its the greatest, with our politicians, corrupt organisations and the government employees...
..but I do know that it is one of the greatest , just because of the rest of the people who are sweating it out, for the country, with every sense of what our tricolours stand for...

I celebrated my Independence day by waking up late - as usual.
I did not hoist a flag today, nor did I witness someone else do it. I did not listen to the national anthem (yet). I did not speak or hear someone do so about India. But then, thats only because I don't need a date to do all this. Aug 15th or not, I am always patriotic. I listen to and sing the anthem on other days too. It's for the ones who don't, that Independence day exist. The only day most lay men will go on for minutes and minutes (not necessarily hours) about how great India is, only to go home and complain about what all the country has not done for him? (as the saying goes :) , which I will not quote here).

...because of every soldier, farmer and people who are Indian in every sense...I am Proud to be an Indian. If I could choose to be born in any country, as much as I am in awe of some other countries...there is no place like India.
Jai Hind!

Some things you don't know about me

Everybody gets questions about themselves that sometimes go unanswered either because you don't know the answer yourself or because its asked too many times...or they are just DAMN WEIRD! They come from all directions - personally, sms, email, scrap, phone calls et all. Here is an attempt to answer just a few of the ones that I get. Warning-This post sounds a bit self-centered though the intention is to write about me. (Members of my hate-club: better stay away for your own peace of mind.)
Call it an FAQ , but I guess it should be called FAWQ ( Use your imagination)....because of questions like...

Q)Who is your best friend?
Q)Where do you live?
Q)You are OLDER THAN US :O?
Q)You have a GF? (Like you would care :P )
Q)Hi, Can I order two pizzaz and a diet coke?
Q)Why do you always crack jokes? (Because my skull is too hard to do the same)
Q)Is that a medula oblongata in your head?
Q)Where do you get your crazy ideas from?
Q)Who are you?

...and many other such questions. Here goes a list of facts...

*I wrote diary for 13 years without fail, every single day from 1995 to 2007 (Ok fine, I skipped a few days) , until finally when I did not find a diary good enough to write in, this year.
*I always wanted to learn to play drums.
*I used to sing in every school show (annual day, independence day, republic day...) until my voice broke.
*I also used to dance.(Lets not talk about that)
*Now if I sing, I may need to be hospitalized after the mob is through with me.
*I was detained in 9th standard(Lets not talk about that either)
*In 9th I also wanted to learn the guitar.
*All my life, I wished for a sister.
*Everytime I get to know a new person, I can't help thinking I discovered a new colour.
*I have always been crazy about computers and everything related, though my marks cards suggest otherwise. I wanted to enter B Sc in C Sc if I didn't make it to where I am.
*I was under pressure to become a doctor. I am proud I made my own decision.
*I completely realise that I am not a looker and I certainly do not need the cheeky one-liners, insults and indirect abuses made to imply the same. People who think and/or say the opposite are just sweet type.
*I am lazier than I seem.
*I wish to open a state-of-the-art animal shelter someday.
*I like everyone who shows a bit of good and a bit of evil.
*I believe-A person with bad habits but admits it with complete honesty is a person worth my trust.
*Nobody ever "betrayed" me nor broke my heart or any such sort of thing, no matter what my testimonials say.
*I believe- My career may get off to a shaky start, but the future is bright.
*I love comic books.
*I hate leaving any job incomplete. Not that I have completed everything I have started.
*I am not as emotional a person as my blogs say. In fact, I am supposed to be the most "stone hearted" around, which is also not true.
*I don't understand myself sometimes.
*You never find me standing alone for too long. If I am, you can safely assume I am feeling horrible.
*I have never won anything , any competition , that has really satisfied me completely. Something that made me feel that I really deserved it.
*I don't mind being called a loser.
*I Hate diplomatic people. Diplomats are the most cunning people you can come across, they are never worthy of any trust. I had to deal with one just a few hours before writing this post and the smoke hasn't stopped coming out of my ears.
*I have never on my own effort/decision ever stopped speaking to a person or broken all contacts with anybody before. I doubt there will be a first time, this time.
*I don't mind saying sorry even if its not my mistake.
*I have a really huge ego.
*Sometimes, I am really arrogant.
*I speak in atleast 5 different ways(accents/dialects) in Kannada and English each. In either case, I have forgotten which is my original. I don't like to speak about it.
*I know I have absolutely no talent that I can speak of.
*I understand that jokers have no place in the real world. And being funny is not a talent, besides there are people who rather give up their mojo than to admit that I am funny. Which I am not -happy?
*I do not like people who are not original.
*I prefer the internet to my cell.
*My stuff - notebook, cell, bag, cupboard all are very personal.

*Swimming is my favourite recreational activity.
*I thank god for Coffee, Chocolate and Cricket.
*I believe - No dream is too big to be let go off.
*The Matrix is my favourite movie - because I had imagined something like that before.(I know its hard to believe.)
*I don't let too many people be my close friends. I still don't know why.
*I say 'Life is good' at least two times a day and never to sound/feel optimistic.
*I believe only 10% of the people who visit my blog will read this one completely.
*I write really lengthy blogs.

This will be updated when I discover new things about myself. Find this on the right side of this page all the time.

See you next time, same time, same dream

A million pictures of yours so bright,
imprinted by love, the whitest white,
A million dreams, so golden gold,
How in the world shall I withhold?

So many songs I wrote for you.
So many things, I wanted to say and do,
so many walls punched with my fist,
so many hopes all shattered to dust.

I have stopped bleeding, or so I think,
I close my eyes, for I fear I'll sink,
If I can't see the wound, it does not vanish,
just hiding the surface with two coats of varnish!

You are so cold to me, Princess of ice,
Your sharp words, sting me blind.
I feel like pond scum, like I caused you pain,
Your actions have stung me too, over again.

I thought I moved on, now life is smooth
I told them all , "Things looking good"
A fine result, a job for the namesake,
all the dry skin, falling flake by flake.

I've convinced myself, I've forgotten you,
For God's sake now, this is through,
and then you come again, in my dreams
one fine day, with all those cheers.

You speak to me like you never will,
you look at me like you never will,
you caress me, like you never will,
Yes I am in love, I love you still.

Oh we are together what a wonderful day!!
I never thought these words I'll say,
I am the happiest man, until I wake,
Such happiness will never come again.

I realise now, it was just another dream
Why god why? These games are mean!
I thought this was it, after all I had been,
To fool me like this, I'd call you a fiend.

Life goes on, No I don't bleed,
I don't look at the wound,I will succeed,
I can hide what I feel as you have seen,
The legend shall keep quite,
...........................until the next dream :)

My Story 2050

No its not a spoof of Love Story 2050 and no, its not completely my story either. Its just one of those most appropriate and most certain assumptions that all(or most) of you will agree on. I read this message about 2050 which was quite funny and decided to come up with a set of those with my own perspective.

* NIE (Year 2050 - remember this part):
Students are now asked to sign a bond before being admitted for a course. The bond says

" I promise to follow all rules and regulations of our college. If not all, at least the one that says I must wear the uniform all the time as in - when I attend college, during placements, go to sleep, do the potty, go to office for work (After finishing my studies in NIE), on my death bed as well as six feet under

Signed so&so "

* Hindustan Times quotes the Registrar of VTU, this Wednesday: " From this year onwards there will be very strict corrections..."

Times of India headlines the following morning: Over 1500 Engineering Students Commit Suicide For Mysterious Reasons

* Salmaan Rushdie broke up with 20 year old girlfriend from Hawaii after 5 year relationship.

* Front Page News: " Team India WINS...no seriously!!"

* A sign found everywhere in NIE building:

- " NIE will be a globally acknowledged institution...blah blah blah"

* Arunbati Coy wins Booker price for the best Ebook of the year.

* Hrithik Roshan recieves award for his performance in "Koi hil gaya" a poor remake of yet another Hollywood movie, by...who else?...his father Rakesh Roshan. (Original scripts still have to be contented with a 'critical acclaim' tag.)

* Teachers in NIE still give below 15 average on all internal assessments irrespective of the subject or performance. Teachers in SJCE are considering ways to accommodate above 25 for the same.

* Now Two Indian players allowed per side in IPL according to new regulations announced yesterday.

* Shah Rukh still thinks he is better than Amitabh Bacchan.

* Exam Fees to V.T.U Exams reduced by 15 Rupees. Revaluation Fees doubled to Rs 7000/-

* Hindi movie "Do ankhein bara hazaar chummi" enters the guinness book of world records for the " Most kisses in a movie " with a little over twice the number of kisses in all the Hollywood movies put together.

* Coming back to VTU , on popular request...
V.T.U overtakes the Transport office from Philiphines and Bihari Government to lead in the all time " Most Corrupt organizations in the world ".
The Finance officer gives a speech on this momentous occasion:

" As you can see, on the latest rankings V.T.U has jumped two places from 3 to 1 to lead the list of Most Corrupt organizations in the world. But we say this is grossly unfair for us and a huge miscalculation on their part. According to our estimates and self assessment we are only the second most Corrupt organization in the world..we will apply for challenge reval"

* Freshers in degree colleges now beginning to look like they are straight out of L.K.G and they are pretty hard to differentiate between their outgoing seniors.

* Freshers all over still act like Brad Pitt/John Abraham and Jessica Alba/Mallika Sherawat. They still loose their fizz within the first week.

*Akshay Bacchan son of Abhishek Bacchan ready to enter the industry.

* Verdict on the Bofors case , 1993 Bombay Blast case and the Cauvery water dispute Case expected next week.

* Sensex Crashes 200 points (Yawn)

* Thomas Anderson retires after playing his first IPL match for Guwahati Stallions. Starts a chain of 7 star hotels in select countries.

* Shah Rukh Khan and Darsheel have a brawl in a local bar after an argument on who is the better actor in the industry.

* All India Bandh tomorrow to protest against the outsourcing of jobs to Mozambique.

* I have everything in life, except for a few things.

* India Super Power of the world! :)

Exams Galore!

Labs? I already told you about it right?

USP -
Ahh well, the poor mans marks machine they call it. (Poor man - Poor student , whats the AHEM*** difference? ). Well that hoits cause it aint a marks riot for me either ways, though I agree it went better than the worst.

SE -
The most criminal, most worthless subject the jackasses from V.T.U could think of. And the paper? yeah, that gets the tag of - most criminal paper a jackass from V.T.U could think of. Getting the drift? ok, it gets worse...wear your seatbelts.

CG -
I skip a bit of this and that, in the end and then the axiom from Murphy's laws strike. I have studied for 4 questions (80% ) it turns out and 60% of that did not look any better than scrambled eggs for me.

CN-
Some people left the exam hall 10 minutes after the commencement of the exam ( Wise decision as it turned out) ...... I think I will stop at that!

SSM-
Some relief...but not good enough. Simulation my tail!

PPL-
I think that stands for Passionate Programming Language? Well whatever it stood for...there was no passion involved in the way I wrote it. But another breather I must say.

***
By now, I hear a lot of chatter about Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (apparently a movie I could not watch and haven't watched till this day and chances are will not watch unless...) and Hancock and stuff like that when I am trying to run home for my next exam which is barely a few hours away. Hey come on, this was better than FAFL last sem when I had to come in the evening and write one in the morning.
***

AMP-
Another criminal subject in my books. A subject that I would never make use of in my entire life. A subject I never understood. A subject I swore I didn't want to fail even if it meant that I would have failed every other subject in that sem. But no, it had to happen...I had to go through it again.

Ok Almighty , Have it your way! Ill be there.

As luck would have it, in that pathetic little exam hall of ours , where all of us are losers in our own ways, we had an invigilator whose subject had been AMP , who didn't seem to mind the fact that almost all of us wanted to peep into somebody else's book (except for those who were losers in peeping as well) and also that I was the most learned among our little assembly of the unlearned.

The paper is a major whack job! It had "Better quit while you are behind" written all over it! The guy next to me, who rechristened himself after a rowdy from a big rowdy movie, has had enough foresight to prepare chits bearing answers to every single question asked in the history of the subject (Jan 2005 - Dec 2007). Among all that, all we can use is a chit bearing an answer to a 5 marks question usually asked for 12 marks. Well, what options have we got? we make most of that as the invigilator amuses himself and other smirking fans with one liners aimed at the really hopeless in the hall.

We conduct our own little GD (Group Discussion) in the hall - team effort they call it. Someone contributed 2 marks and some other guy brought home 5 - and so on. In the end, we compiled an answer sheet that seemed like it held some 45 marks, all packed tight and neat. The most pathetic part was that none of us had any idea about what we had just written, even though a huge part of it was correct.

After checking, rechecking and rerechecking those answers that I knew well I finally decide to make a move out of the hall, owing to repeated begging from the invigilator to do so and much to his relief.

I walk to feel the air that suddenly felt fresh and hordes of messages asking about our next stop at betta that night on account of freedom...Im done being screwed, screw the exams. Cheers!

How to screw an exam in 10 days

well well well...here we are again. Did I tell you how to screw an exam in 10 days? how rude of me! Knowledge must be shared...

Lemme start from the beginning!
First you build a foundation for everything in the future, as you might have guessed already, there is a lot of foresight involved. Then you end up having the worst luck around combined with bad memory and bit of laziness ( For taste). Then with this crazy concoction you manage to screwup , every now and then, in your lab exams -as a starter (Works up an appetite for failure ). After successfully failing , you must ensure you develop a phobia for lab exams. You see lab exams set the tone for the theory exams - as my Biology teacher ( G Krishna ) used to say "If ya roots are strong mate, the rest of ya is solid " right-O!

You spend a good part of your course building this phobia, finally in 6th sem, you are ready capitalise on all this hard work. What you do is, your butt is so scared stiff that you spend all your free time preparing only for the labs and nothing but the labs. Gooood! Thats my boy! Are we done? Oh I cant wait to see it...right - Next Ten days you can spend wondering how you managed not to prepare for theory exams even though you had over a month. You ask yourself - I didn't spend my time on the net, I have no games installed, I am not messaging away , I am not thinking about anything other than the exams, Then where the **** did all that time GO??????

Past is History, rest is mystery
(I caught that somewhere today )...How true!!!

Stroke Victims

Dear All

Please have a look....This 5 min may save a life and lots of tears.....
You could save a life

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters... S.T.R .
My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance)

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.)
She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today.
Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this...

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster.
The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.
Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions :

S * Ask the individual to SMILE ..
T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg 'It is sunny out today').
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

NOTE : Another 'sign' of a stroke is
1. Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue.
2. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

Oops!

5 Theory exams already done...one after the other and I have got that "OMG! What have I done???" feeling again. A mass murderer would feel less guilty , thats for sure.

Without being able to withstand the terror of facing the AMP exam again, I finally give in to the urge of coming online during normal hours to surf and blog. I wonder how I spent the last few weeks coming online online only between 2-8 (If and when I was awake) to do nothing but set download and check mail. Not a single soul online and it wasn't helping much for a guy who used to literally live inside the internet barely few months ago. I finally think I have got things going but it wasn't meant to be.Not my day...decade rather.

It is amazing how you watch more TV when you are trying to keep away from the net ( Only because I had exceeded my net usage - read my last post) , did you know the term 'reality TV' is really being carried away these days? What the hell was I missing I thought, turns out its just another word for GAME SHOWS!I pity the Judges, at least I can change the channel. Nothing much has changed on TV, Ekta Kapoor is still trying to make money off every sad story on earth, including the Arushi Murder case, which I think is disgusting. Even pig poop is less disgusting. The rest of the soaps aint much improved either, each episode contains 2 dialogues , 1 divorce, 3 murders and 400 camera zoom ins from different angles.I don't know what was worse...not having internet or having to watch these shows because Mum wont give it a rest and the door wont stay shut. Hey wait a minute...I had to go through them both together. Wait it gets worse I GOT EXAMS IF YOU FORGOT!

It is also amazing how I have found my long lost sleep especially when I really need to stay more awake these days. Fortunately, the 6th sem tradition of taking ill before an important test/exam is no more. People are already talking about "How you gonna spend your hols? " kinda stuff. Their party ends the day after tomorrow Afternoon. I am gonna hold fort for a few hours more, though I dont see for what great purpose, as my so called self confidence takes a sound battering.

The only thing good these days seems to be Suresh Raina's form and Pluto's left ear(Another day another post). Coming to that 300 MB excess I spoke about the last time I wrote...there was a small mistake in that line...I actually had an excess of 490 MB!! Right, the countdown begins to the day the bill arrives. Pray for my exams, not my life though!

Lab-a-ba-ba-bow!

Everybody has a rep!Good, bad...well weird.A person is known for different things in different circles sometimes. For example I recently found out something from someone in SJCE, the following snippet should some it up:

Who is he?
The same guy who doesn't get output in labs.

?!?!?!?!?
***

This 12th ,Computer Graphics, everything went right in the end.And no, I had nothing to do with it,as usual, except ofcourse take the credit for it, ass usual. Some people got angels watching over them, I realised I had one sitting behind me.Now thats a change in the wind, I hope it stays that way.

***

This "flash news" post ain't an act of laziness, but more like a way to get it all out soon. You never know, I may go on a bogging hiatus soon after this, maybe not.It definitely has nothing to do with the lack of readers(Thanks to the exams), but maybe the fact that I have exceeded the download limit by a meagre.... THREE HUNDRED MEGABYTES!!!

***

What happened this day last year on my blog or off it? Well I remember clearly, but right now, with half my mind on the members of the all new 'I wont comment on Insanity Unlimited!!!' club
and the other half on the exams tomorrow...I dunno where to go.Its been quite a day with friends coming over and its been a nice time.Messages , messages and more messages and oh yeah calls too! Mum gives me a pair o goldies , one which is already on its way, one of the reasons why I had stopped bringing them in , since last year.

Late night, and I am still not tense.I have that I-am-gonna-pull-this-off-smoothly feeling. Its a rare feeling/instinct and its always right, though it never usually holds water, it rains thunderstorms when the time comes.

I am through going through them programs once and as Kavs gives me company online through the night, I manage to take a short break between studying and revising them again,so that I can quickly sum up what happened today.Waking up at 9 today was a tall order and I did it.Tomorrow it gets taller.

***

Coming back to the 300 MB exceed, when the bill comes, I will make sure I will write my last post in a hurry before my dad can get his hands on the nearest knife/rock/bulldozer/anything.For now lemme just get some much deserved sleep.

Until next time...

La-ba-ba-ba-bow!
Wish me...for my exams ;)!

All the best to my mates.
TO Koundy, I'm happy that you got that job, Kudos!

Study buddy Study

After a blink blink 6th sem, I feel like - voila. Its exams again. "Goodie goodie". I am trying hard to live up to the expectations of all close friends and family and the thought of failures scares me but fails to motivate me.
I remember the run up to 5th sem exams, I was going truly insane. All sorts of frustration stuck up my A.This time I am a more relaxed man, so relaxed that I don't even bother to make sense of what I am reading.
I was staring at a figure in the 7th page of my CN notes yesterday.I think today I was staring at the next figure.God knows what those figures were, I cant recall them.
I kept up my tradition of not blogging during exams till today. But I just realised its just a way to pretend you are busy studying .So is the process of staring at the notes at the notes for hours.
Concentration? What? What is that? Is that near Area-51 ? I'll wiki it up later.

So I just decided to come and blog about the nothingness thats going on right now. Of course, there were a few realisations:

--->I realised I am not really a morning person.
I just loved waking up because I would be served with a big glass of my elixir of life, COFFEE! , made from fresh milk.
I finally woke up at 6 today morning ( I would like to dedicate this moment to my friend, myself oh and also my alarm clock(s), reminders, family...) thats when I realised that new fact of life.
I felt like I never woke up all day.Hope fully tomorrow a better cycle will start!

--->I realised that it took exactly 5 and a half months to go from 3000 hits to 8000 hits

--->10 and a half months to go from 0 to 8000.

--->I realised I may mean a lot to a few people than I had ever expected.

--->I realised I also forget to blog about certain things and that its not just studies.

--->I also realised that

LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!*

Aspirations 2020

With some interest and lots of luck me and Benne Batta (BB- not to be mistaken for any other abbreviation ) make it into Aspirations 2020 for a general quiz, which is pretty much certain as far as, we all knew , we would go.From then onwards it was just a roadtrip to Blore where the fest would be held.
An entire bus full of friends, quite an insane gang , all qualified for different events, sleepy eyed but still insane enough left Mysore at 5:30 something after the ever late lecture-in-charge failed to make it on time.

Breakfast at 9. We had to wipe our plates with tissue paper about 3 times, just because everyone were doing it and finally we realised that those plates were originally PURE WHITE as against the light brown we had assumed it to be.

What happens next is the crowning moment of our Blore Roadtrip. We are talking about horror movies and all sorts of nail biters, Rubs doesnt seem very amused , so,I ask Rubs if she would be scared if I go 'Boo!' and I get a big laugh and a bigger no!

BOO!
I haven't even seen a kangaroo jump like that before! And then I spend the next half an hour running away from a mad mad Rubs who wants to eat me alive.Well that was scarier than any horror movie and if it WAS recorded, she would never watch it!

And ofcourse, not to mention the " I'll KILL YOU" statement that is ringing in my ear as I write this blog!

Our quiz goes pretty much okie dokie with every single answer being "on the tip of my tongue" and yet failing to drop onto the paper below. So much for the team name of NaXatra (Marketing they call it) , cause at the end of the quiz we were just seeing stars.

Lunch at 2, perhaps!
More wiping, hey come on, it generates quite an apetite for the lunch that awaits.
Or maybe GAT thought of an "Earn ya lunch" concept!God knows.

Finals later...NIE storms through and ends up with 115 in all.The second placed team is at 10 in while the 3rd place team is on -5

TEA & SNACKS!
I had two coupons, which meant I could have the awesome heavenly cake twice! But then there was the super stale samosas from yesteryears that I had to make sure would reach someone's belly.National waste to throw it away you see!
I managed to find a taker, and it was gone in 60 seconds. But wait, the story doesnt end there...
Looks like not too many digged the idea of munching on fossil Samosas so there were a lot of them left. Who you gonna call?
There is something stale, in the neighbourhood, who ya gonna call? Batman Batta!
*music*

I have never seen anybody gobble up so many stale anythings ever before in my life. When I heard the breaking news that Batta had swallowed 5/6 of them , I thought it was just another exaggerated joke about Batta, amazingly enough it was true.We decided to leave Bangalore before Aaj Tak arrived with TV Cameras.

On the way home it was time for Dares!
Bull game...cause you don't win even when you win.I was asked to speak to a gal at the front for 5 minutes.Among the half a score eggheads yelling at me there, one wanted me to talk rubbish, other wanted me to talk complete sense. One wanted me to introduce myself to her, other wanted me to not do any of that. And a pretty big bunch just wanted to see me lose!

I went and started speaking to her and she was a cool gal, she was speaking well, infact she seemed like she was trying to beat me at speaking. In the end my dare was cancelled in between for (real) reasons unknown to man.The reason actually given sounded like the Noida police trying to cover up their stupid errors,
" You spoke a lot of sense"
no no " You spoke a lot of rubbish"
....no no" You didnt intro",
no no " You intro'd"

The gravity of "I wanna see you lose" campaign was realised when people who didn't even watch all started arguing that I didn't win.COME ON!! I lose in lots of things every single day...why pick on me when I actually win something! Kill joys!

The best of all was
" You need to know the person before itself in order to complete the dare"

WOW, you didn't tell me that Magic was involved, or time travel rather. If I knew that this dare would be thrown onto me, I would have tried to get to know her a month in advance!
Ofcourse after this Rubs gave her own shot at this awe inspiring game by simply cheating("Hello, this is a dare, my dare is to ask you silly questions, so can I go ahead with it?or even better just shake your head as if you are speaking, my dumb friends wont even realise the difference") , you know what they say - If ya ain't cheating, ya ain't trying!

Soon we are in Mysore and insane-o-gang head away in different directions towards home sweet home.

The bday treat

Well, best man P had his b'day on that clash of the big bdays! But luck would have it that his punk tail would fall sick on the same date.
He comes to Mysore from Kasargod through a sleepless journey and then next morning Bday boy is all gung ho about going to betta.Well waddaya know?huh!
The treat is pushed from then to later to latest because of the all important voting of mass companies thingy. Finally yesterday we do find ourselves all setup and ready and it turns out to be an eye opener...
we find out a lot of things:

1) Pramukh doesn't need to be drunk to be drunk!
Near the zoo he suddenly stops his bike , points at some dark gully , where no man has gone before and yells " I can see some light there, come on lets go there, EVERYONE COME ON"
All of us give puzzled looks and he yells again " Come on I can see some light there, lets all go there"

2) I can eat.
Well I didn't say it completely because I didn't want ya to fall off your chairs, it was actually supposed to read, I CAN EAT 7 ROTTIS.

3)Batta stomach does have an end, it does get full - occassionally.
We were expecting the owner to start crying and begging when it was decided that the treat would be at an 'all you eat' kinda place.Cause we had heard a myth that Batta can never really have a full stomach. MYTH BUSTED!

4)Hotel Siddhartha sucks!
We wait for about half an hour like cold blooded animals waiting for already dining people to leave their tables and when the moment of truth comes, we are told by the waiter with somewhat rude behaviour that there is nothing we can eat.It felt like we had come to some kind of government office for some government work!
Well, if there was any use that the hotel came to in that half an hour apart from letting me know the IPL scores was that I used their bathroom.Ofcourse that was not a great incident either what with an uncleji singing some marwari song at the top of his voice in that 8X8 restroom!

All in all...it was good, goood! Only because of drunk old P!Nothing else....cheers!
